Keep the Birthers Going

The oddity of the fringe movement that insists that President Obama was not born in the United States is a guarantee that Obama's popularity will remain in the 50s or higher through the rest of the debate on health care. Why? Because people who are truly in the middle have no desire to be associated with the craizes. So, keep them going if you support Obama.

  1. Do you think there might come a point where the focus turns to why there hasn't been a response, as happened to John Kerry during his presidential campaign?

  2. No. The difference is that this movement really IS grassroots, whereas the anti-Kerry campaign was orchestrated by sophistocated communications professionals. I do know that there is now an attempt by these same professionals to tap into the grassroots, but--to use a metaphor taken from my front lawn--they are working with crabgrass, not Kentuckey bluegrass...The Birthers are never going to be able to change the narrative that they are a bit crazy.
